What is a FSBO

Author: Fred Turner

A FSBO is the term given to a person who is selling their home For Sale By Owner (FSBO).

Often, the person who is a FSBO is seen as a "prime target" by many of the people working in the real estate and real estate related industry. Real estate agents often take seminars on how to turn FSBOs into listings. FSBOs who advertise their homes in the newspapers are often solicited by agents, mortgage companies, home inspectors and others trying to get their business.

FSBOs of today are quite different than FSBOs of yesteryear. Technology, especially the internet, has played a huge role in making information much more accessible as well as marketing a home easier and more effective. People can easily find out what their home is worth by going to websites such as http://www.zillow.com and http://www.realestateABC.com. FSBO magazines are popping up everywhere across the country and now, even the world. These FSBO magazine companies offer alternate marketing for FSBOs with their magazines, their websites, signs, seminars and many of them even offer discounted real estate services. The For Sale By Owner Network http://www.FSBOnetwork.com is one website which these emerging FSBO companies are linked to.

Next time you sell your home, don't go straight to a real estate agent and pay approximately 6% of your hard-earned equity to sell your home (that's $18,000 on a $300,000 home) do some investigating on your own. You will be surprised at just how much information is at your fingertips, how easy it is to sell your home and how much money you can save selling your own home.

You too can be a successful FSBO and proud of it!
